A.N. : it's a birthday present for my dearest little "sister",
hime_poisoned.. happy birthday hime-chan!! and thank u so much to my perverted partner in crime jen (
chibilover14), for beta-ing this!! ILUSM!!
-------
"Orange trees?"
"Yeah," said Yabu as he passed the photoshoot schedule to Daiki.
"But Yabu-kun, I'm already 17 years old! I'm not a kid that plays around orange trees happily!!" complained Daiki again.
"I'm not the one that decided on this, Dai-chan," the leader of the band continued, handing out the schedule to everyone else.
Daiki just sat on his chair, pouting. Why did he, one of BEST members, have to have a photoshoot with orange trees! Even Keito, who was two years younger than him, got the chance to have a really cool army set photoshoot.
"Awesome!! I'm paired with Keito!!" Hikaru jumped around happily.
"Yama-chaaan!!! We're not going to be in a same set!! I'm so sad! Damn you, Takaki-kun! I hate you!!" Yuto put his head on the desk, regretting his so called bad luck. Yamada just patted Yuto's head lightly.
"Ne Yuto, it's not my fault that I'm paired up with Yamada," said Takaki as he hit Yuto's head with his schedule paper softly.
"Takaki-kun! Don't do, that! It will make Yuto even sadder. Poor Yuto." Yamada quickly wrapped his arms around Yuto and he stuck out his tongue at Takaki, feeling as if he won the battle that didn’t even exist. "It's okay, Yuto. Let's have dinner together later, ne?" Yamada smiled at the taller boy. Yuto grinned as he nodded happily.
Daiki just sighed as he observed the person in front of him. A smaller boy sat there, humming some song, and carefully read the schedule. He looked up and smiled to Daiki. "Let's have fun together with the orange trees, Dai-chan!"
"Yeah. Let's do our best, Ryutaro," Daiki smiled awkwardly. God must hate him, he thought. As if he wasn't humiliated enough with the orange trees set but that he was also paired with Ryutaro. If this kind of thing kept going on, Daiki was pretty sure that no one would look at him as soon-to-be-graduated high school student.
After their small meeting, Yuto and Yamada dragged Daiki to have dinner along with them. The two HS7 members knew him well enough that they knew Daiki wasn't really happy with his photoshoot setting. "By the way Chinen, I can't recall asking you to join us for dinner as well," complained Yuto.
"Eh? But Yama-chan said I can come along too!" whined Chinen as he put his green tea cup back to the table.
Yuto turned his head to Yamada, asking him if it's true. Yamada just smiled as he nodded. Yuto's annoyed face quickly changed to his usual happy-go-lucky expression. "Maa~, since Yama-chan said so, I'm fine with Chinen being here then."
"Oh, come on. Stop acting all lovey dovey, you two! It's not making me feel any better." Daiki felt even more depressed.
"Don't be so sad, Ari-chan. Orange trees are not so bad. Inoo-chan and I got an orchestra theater setting. Inoo-chan will look really cool with a tuxedo on, but what about me? I’ll probably look weird since my body is so small," Chinen said, trying to cheer up Daiki.
Daiki pierced his eyes to Chinen, feeling a bit annoyed. Wearing a tuxedo is really cool, you baka!! What if I have to wear overall pants?? I won't look like a handsome man at all!! I'm 17 years old for crying out loud! And the word ‘cute’ is not suitable for my age anymore!! Maybe it’s just not my luck, Daiki complained to himself.
-------------
"God seriously hates me." Daiki sighed as he carefully observed his appearance in front of the mirror. He was wearing a baby blue colored t-shirt that made him look so cute and child like, and of course just like he predicted the previous day, with overall pants.
"You look pretty cute in it, Dai-chan."
Daiki swore that someday he would strangle anyone that called him cute instead of cool from that moment onwards. He turned his head toward whoever told him that he looked cute and started to snap, "Very funny Ryutaro. I'm too old to be called- eh??? Takaki-kun??"
The older boy, leaning against the door's frame, just grinned at him. Takaki was dressed in a black t-shirt and the same exact denim overall pants that Daiki was wearing, of course in a bigger size. Daiki froze for a while, trying to understand what Takaki was doing in the van with similar clothing.
"What are you doing here?" asked Daiki.
"Replacing Ryutaro."
"What happened to him?"
"He sprained his ankle during his PE class this morning. So since no other HS7 members are available and I'm the only free BEST member today, I'm replacing him," explained Takaki.
Somehow, Daiki felt relieved that he wouldn't be the only one that would look stupid in the overall pants. Even so, as he walked right behind Takaki to the farm full of orange trees, he realized that Takaki still managed to look cool with overall pants on. Damn it! Why can't I grow taller or at least have a manlier face?!?! groaned Daiki to himself.
"Arioka-kun, please sit on the grass with each hand holding an orange. Put at least one of them against your cheek," said the photographer.
As Daiki did just like he was told, a lady from the crew suddenly screamed, "He's soooo adorable!!!" Daiki's upper lip twitched. If only he wasn't in public, he was pretty sure that he would have thrown the orange at the lady's face. At that moment, adorable would be another word that would make him strangle anyone who told him that.
"You are pretty lucky ne, Dai-chan? You don't have to act cool to gain people’s attention," said Takaki as he kneeled down behind him and pressed an orange against Daiki's other cheek. He looked up, seconds away from getting angry with the older boy, but stopped as the blitz from the camera blinded his vision.
"That was good. Act friendlier with each other," praised the photographer.
Takaki wrapped an arm around Daiki's neck as he gently placed his cheek against Daiki's. "Nice. Now smile," added the photographer before Daiki managed to protest. The lady from just now squeaked at the cuteness. Daiki swore that one day he would set a trap on that lady.
Poor, annoyed, little Daiki still managed to look pretty cute on almost every photo. He quickly made his way back to the van once he was done with his part. With his mouth pouting and cursing, Daiki grabbed his phone from his bag and emailed his mom, telling her that he would be late. He needed to have a nice 'mind-therapy' in the arcade.
"Eh????" Daiki froze.
He couldn't open his overall pants at all. He tried his best to open them but it seemed that one of the hooks was stuck on the button. "Damn it! What did I do wrong, Kami-sama?!?!" muttered Daiki in frustration.
"What's wrong?" asked Takaki as he entered the van, wondering why Daiki looked all grumpy.
"I'm stuck in the freaking hideous overall pants," he replied.
"Let me help you with that," said Takaki.
The older boy slowly tried to detach the hook from its button. Daiki just carefully observed Takaki's hands on his chest. "Huaa… It’s really stuck." Takaki kept trying to help Daiki open his overall pants.
"It's okay then. I'll try to ask the staff to help me with this." Daiki exhaled a really long breath.
"No! Let me try it! Stay still!" snapped Takaki suddenly.
Daiki blinked a couple of times. What's wrong with him? Getting all worked up for nothing?, thought Daiki. Takaki then pulled him to sit down on one of the chairs, while he bended his knees right in front of Daiki. He bit his lower lip and concentrated on the overall pants' hook.
"Finally!" Takaki exclaimed as he managed to open it at last.
"Thanks a lot. I owe you one," said Daiki. His lips curved upwards as he patted Takaki's shoulder lightly.
Takaki stared at Daiki for about a whole minute. The younger boy raised his eyebrows, asking him why he was staring at him like that. As he placed his hands on Daiki's lap, Takaki leaned forward and kept looking at him intently. "Anou~, Takaki-kun. What are you doing?" asked Daiki, a little scared with the fact that his bandmate’s face was just an inch away from his.
"You know, you finally smiled sincerely. You looked so grumpy the whole day, and that's a little uncool." Then Takaki pressed his lips against Daiki's soft, glossy, pink lips.
Daiki didn’t move for a couple of seconds, but closed his eyes at the end. "You're not pushing me away for kissing you?" asked Takaki as he pulled away. Daiki couldn't answer him at all since before he even managed to fully open his eyes, Takaki leaned forward and kissed him again, a little bit longer this time.
"Is it because I replaced Ryutaro for the photoshoot that you were all cranky?” asked Takaki as he stood up, starting to change his clothes himself.
"No! It has nothing to do with you," said Daiki, without moving from the chair at all.
Takaki didn't say anything. He just changed quietly. Daiki was thinking on asking Takaki why he went silent but decided to change as well. Takaki was already starting packing his stuff when Daiki finished changing. "Ne, what did you kiss me for?" asked Daiki.
"No apparent reason," replied Takaki shortly.
"People don't just kiss another person for no apparent reason, Takaki-kun," said Daiki.
"I don't know. Maybe because I like you,"
"You what?"
"I said maybe because I like you," repeated Takaki.
"Eh? Does that mean you are, well, gay?" asked Daiki.
Takaki stopped packing his things. He turned his head to Daiki and looked at him intensely, "Well, are you? You didn't exactly push me away when I kissed you." Takaki pierced his eyes at Daiki and he got silent. He didn't really know why as well. Daiki grabbed Takaki's shirt when he passed him, walking toward the door.
"Do you like me because I look cute and adorable?" asked Daiki with head down, blushing.
"Well, yeah somehow. But it's not the main reason. Why?"
"I was so grumpy because I couldn't take it when people call me cute or adorable. I'm 17 years old, not 12. So, it’s annoying if you like me because of that," said Daiki.
Takaki sighed. He put his curving hand on Daiki's neck, making him to look up. "I like you because you are someone that everyone can count on. You are mature, and I think you are hard working. In short, you are really cool."
"Eh? Say that again," said Daiki.
"The whole thing?"
"No, just the last part."
"You are really cool," repeated Takaki.
By reflex, Daiki grabbed the hand that was on his neck. His eyes were wide opened and shined brightly. "Did you just said that I'm cool?" asked Daiki. Takaki just nodded and Daiki's smile grew wider. He quickly moved Takaki's hand to his chest. Takaki blinked since he was confused as to why Daiki did that.
"Can you feel that? I think my heart is pumping twice as hard as normal," said Daiki.
Daiki let go of Takaki's hand. He jumped around happily as he packed his belongings. "Ne ne ne ne... Maybe we should go out for dinner, or we can just hang out somewhere. What about a movie? No no no, it could look like a date. Coming over to my place would be a good idea. My mom said she would make omelet rice for dinner. Her omelet rice is the bomb!! What do you think? Or maybe I need to think of another option," said Daiki with a bright smile.
Takaki couldn't help it but laugh at Daiki's sudden change of behavior. “Cute," he mused.
“Hey! You said that I'm cool!" Daiki pouted.
"Hai hai hai. You are cool and cute," said Takaki again, half laughing.
"Don't ever say the word cute or adorable in front of me or else…”
"Or else what?”
Daiki drew himself closer to Takaki. His eyes were sharply set on the taller boy. If only you didn't say that I was cool, I would be strangling you like right now. As he tiptoed himself, Daiki kissed Takaki. "Or else I'll kiss you."
Takaki smiled. "Then I rather call you cute all the time,” he put his hands around Daiki's waist. "Cute, cute, and cute.”
"Shut up." Daiki placed his hands on both sides of Takaki's cheeks and pulled his face closer. "If only I didn’t like you as well, you would be dead by now." Daiki pressed their lips against each other.
"So, you are indeed just as gay as I am," smirked Takaki. "Cute," he added.
Daiki was about to lean forward to kiss him again, but stopped as he realized something. "Very funny, Takaki-kun. You just want me to kiss you," he complained. Takaki grinned, and took the initiative to kiss Daiki instead.
"Kyaaaaaa!!!!!! So cute!!" someone screamed.
The two boys pulled away. They turned their head to the door, trying to find out who was screaming. The lady from before stood there with both hands on her cheeks. She looked so amused at the kissing scene she just saw.
This time, Daiki grabbed the nearest object he could get and threw it at the lady. "I'm 17 years old and cute is not the right word to use to describe me!!!" he yelled.
