Chapter 7: Idiotic Role
Attention seeker. That would be one phrase Takaki loved to describe himself as, but in a positive way of course. He wouldn’t fail to spot the camera, and posed as quickly as possible. This would be one of the reason why it was pretty quick for the fans to actually spot Takaki’s where about on shows.
Behind the camera, Takaki loved to share his snack with everyone around him. He liked the feeling of high self esteem on making people happy, although he often ended up sulking because he didn’t get much share at the end. Very often, he did all this unconsciously.
It wasn’t that much different when it came to his boyfriend. Takaki loved to seek Daiki’s attention. Miscalling him for no apparent reason would be one of the things that Takaki often do, even though Daiki was sitting right in front him. Takaki just simply liked it when Daiki smiled at Takaki’s miscalls. Surprisingly, Daiki’s annoyed face when Takaki miscalled him when Daiki was just right beside him amused the older boy so much.
When Daiki wasn’t around, Takaki tended to send endless e-mails with shiny and colourful emoticons all over the place. It never really took Daiki long to reply to those e-mails. Even when the younger boy didn’t have the time to write much, he would just send a smily face or something.
However, it was different this time. Since Daiki’s schedule became a little bit hectic with his drama and stuff, Daiki rarely e-mailed Takaki back. Worse, he often didn’t bother to reply at all. It was understandable for Daiki to be so busy with drama and catching up with school in the same time. Especially since they weren’t living in the same apartment anymore.
“Aaaarrgghhh!!” groaned Takaki as he threw his phone to the couch.
“Oh come on, Takaki. He just hasn’t replied your third e-mail. You know exactly know how hectic acting in a drama could be, right?” calmed Hikaru down.
“Third?! Third?! Give me a break, Hikaru. It is the third one today, but if you combine it with yesterday’s ones or the day before, it’s countless times!!” complained Takaki.
“Relax, really. At least you can still see him during talk show or something,” said Hikaru again.
“I haven’t seen him in two weeks!! Two weeks!!”
“I haven’t seen mine in like forever, Takaki,” replied Hikaru calmly.
Takaki stopped groaning for awhile. He sighed as he realised that maybe two weeks wasn’t so bad anyway. However, it took him about a minute before he tilted his head as he realised something was wrong with Hikaru’s statement.
“What do you mean by in like forever?”
“You heard me. Literally I haven’t seen her in like forever. Since I don’t have any girlfriend or even boyfriend to begin with,” laughed Hikaru.
“Eeeeeehhhhh?!?!?! Geez, Hikaru!! You damn ass!” pouted Takaki.
Hikaru just laughed at his bandmate. It wasn’t really his attention to be sarcastic or anything, it was just Hikaru being himself. At least, that would be Hikaru’s own way of calming or cheering his friend up. It often needed a little humiliation on admitting self’s defect.
Still, it was quite depressing for Takaki to not getting any news from Daiki. It could be said that he kind of became a little bit obsessed with his boyfriend. No one really saw it as a problem until Takaki actually got too protective.
He complained when Daiki was paired up with someone else during photoshoot. He refused to have a date with Daiki at any place where there was a high chance of fangirls to see them because he found Daiki’s fangirls as the ultimate biggest threat. Jealousy, really, it was just jealousy. He even freaked out seeing Daiki’s kissing scene that Daiki acted long long time ago when he was little.
“Don’t be ridiculous Takaki. It’s not like Daiki is cheating on you,” Yabu finally spoke up.
“Eh?!”
“Yeah, it’s not like Daiki is going out with someone else and have a nice little date on his own behind your back,” emphasized Inoo.
“………...” Takaki went silent.
“Finally, a reasonable explanation to calm him down,” giggled Hikaru.
Takaki suddenly stood up from the sofa he was sitting on. He placed his hands on each side of his head as he walked in a circle, looked pretty much panic. The other three BEST members exchanged look between each other in wonder what it might be this time.
“What if Daiki found a substitute of me?! Oh my God! Maybe a nice cute little water boy on the set! Or even maybe a girl that happens to be the daughter of the producer!! Fell in love when she came by to pay a visit to the shooting set! That’s worse!!!!” said Takaki in panic.
“Ha?” said Yabu and Inoo at the same time.
“Someone seriously needs to give him a real life size statue of Dai-chan. I don’t think advising him will do any good,” sighed Hikaru.
----------------
It wasn’t really Daiki’s attention to actually ignore Takaki. The younger boy just happened to be too busy to right away reply any e-mails. Unless it was from his mom, he wouldn’t even bother to open it. Usually, he checked on his e-mails once he was home or when he had a lunch break or something.
However, sadly, for the past three days, Daiki didn’t have any phone credit to reply to any of the e-mails. His mom even actually had to call him to make sure how her son was doing. Even worse, Daiki didn’t have any time to go and buy a top-up. When he got some free time, it would be either he fell asleep for being too tired or he totally forgot about it.
At the moment, Daiki could only stare in such a shock at Takaki’s latest e-mail. He was literally freaked out reading it. Daiki froze, with his phone still on his hand. Yuto, who was sitting right next to him, tilted his head and decided to snatch Daiki’s phone to find out what happened.
“Dai-chan, I’ll be happy if you find someone else you love. Even if he’s just a water boy on the set, I won’t mind letting you go as long as you are happy. From the one that loves you loads, Takaki.” read Yuto.
“Eeeeeeeeehhhhhhhh????” said Chinen and Yamada in the same time.
“What the hell is that idiot thinking?! I just freaking didn’t reply him for three days, okay it’s four days with today,” groaned Daiki.
“He’s just being considerate, Dai-chan,” said Yuta calmly.
“Considerate of what? Accusing me of cheating?”
“Erm.. He didn’t technically accuse you for cheating. He just said if you found someone you love. And I wonder whether he actually knows that you are indeed quite close with the water boy. Maybe Takaki has a sixth sense or something,” continued Yuto.
“I’m just being nice to that water boy okay. Geez. Any of you have any credit? I need to call this idiot,” sighed Daiki.
Yamada quickly trailed his hand to his pocket. He pulled out his phone and passed it to Daiki. After saying thank you, Daiki quickly went out of the dressing room and dialled Takaki’s number.
Daiki wasn’t really angry of course. It was just that he needed to get things straight. He realised it really well that he might be doing the same thing if he was Takaki. He couldn’t really blame the older boy.
“Yes, Yama-chan?” answered the other line.
“It’s me,” replied Daiki.
“Eh?!”
“It’s me Daiki. I don’t have any credit. I borrowed Yama-chan’s phone,” replied Daiki again.
“Dai-chan~…… Huaaaaaa!! Are you really going to tell me that you and the water boy are in love with each other?!?!?! I’m not ready to hear it!!” freaked Takaki out.
“Baka…”
“Em.. I won’t mind. As long as you are happy,” added Takaki.
“Oh dear God, Takaki! How could you think that way? You are such an idiot. And why you even suddenly accuse me of being in love with a water boy?! Geez,” groaned Daiki.
“But but but.. you never replied my e-mail lately,”
“Takaki.. I’m sorry about that. I don’t have any credit. If I have, I won’t be calling you with Yama-chan’s phone right now,” explained Daiki.
“Eh?”
“What eh?”
“Does that mean that you didn’t fall in love with anyone at all?!” asked Takaki.
“Are you an idiot or what?!?! It’s not even hard to spy on me. You just need to get the other three tailing me around as your secret agents if you want,” sighed Daiki.
“Eh?”
“Not another eh, you baka. I’m not and will not cheating on you, okay?” stressed Daiki out.
Takaki went silent on the other side. Daiki assumed that maybe Takaki finally had come to his sense at the end. He never imagined that as childish as his boyfriend was, Takaki could actually become really childish. He even started to wonder who was actually the girl in the relationship. All this time he thought it was himself, but maybe he was wrong.
“Takaki are you still there?”
“Yeah. I’m so sorry, Dai-chan. For acting so stupid. Of course you won’t be cheating on me,” said Takaki.
“It’s okay, really. Just never ever send me any stupid e-mail like the one just now,” sighed Daiki, for who knew how many times already.
“Roger that,” said Takaki.
“Ne, Takaki..”
“Yeah?”
“I miss you..”
----------------
Hikaru twitched his upper lips in annoyance. It was the third time he saw Takaki bouncing around like an idiot around the dressing room. To be honest, it was a little pain in the ass for Hikaru to see someone else seems to steal the main role of the band's clown.
“Ryutaroooooooo!!!!! Ne ne ne ne ne… Who is your favourite BEST member? It’s me right? Right?” said Takaki randomly as he wrapped his arm around the youngest member’s shoulder.
“Err.. Takaki-kun, how many times should I say it already? Yeah yeah yeah.. It’s you. If you are insisting,” said Ryutaro coldly.
“I knew it!” grinned Takaki.
“Although I would prefer Yabu-kun better than you,” murmured Ryutaro.
“Eh?”
“Nothing,” said Ryutaro as he tried to escape from Takaki’s tight hug.
Takaki didn’t bother to ask any further as he saw the only person that he wanted to see for the day. When Daiki, Yuto, Chinen, and Yamada entered the dressing room, Takaki’s expression quickly changed from a random smiling face into a super duper happy face.
“DAI-CHANNNNNNN!!!!!” screamed Takaki.
“Damn it, Takaki-kun. You almost made me deaf,” complain Ryutaro.
Ignoring the poor little Ryutaro, Takaki bounced happily to Daiki. He wrapped his hands around the shorter boy with fake tears to add some dramatic effects on the action. “Oh, Juliet!!! Your Romeo is missing you..” said Takaki dramatically.
Hikaru snorted. Somehow he felt that this idiotic role really suited Takaki. Yabu and Inoo just smiled at Takaki’s action, while Ryutaro didn’t look impressed at all. Keito on the other hand just nodded his head towards the other three as they entered the dressing room.
“Since when it is decided that I’m the girl?” complained Daiki.
“Because you are cute, short, and have a girly face,” grinned Takaki.
“Errmm…” sweat dropped Daiki.
Yabu stood up and passed a piece of paper to Daiki. With Takaki still hugging him, Daiki examined the paper on his hand. He blinked a couple of times. “I’m with Keito. Hm.. With toothbrushes. Nice,” commented Daiki to himself.
“WHAT?!?!? Noooo!!! Dai-chan is with me!! With me!! Me me me and me!!” shouted Takaki.
Ryutaro looked up from his sit and pulled the edge of Yabu’s cardigan softly. Yabu turned his head to the youngest member of the band and rose his eyebrows, asking Ryutaro what he wanted. “Can we just tie Takaki-kun up and lock him in a storage room or something? He gets to my nerves lately,”
