Prologue
Living as a writer might not actually as extravagant as it seemed, and Kato Shigeaki knew it well. It was not even close to being great, especially if you were freshly graduated from college and working as a columnist at a very average local news paper, with a small column share somewhere inside the whole stack.
The cigarette on his left hand was already burned until halfway through, without him actually tasted it even once. The coffee was getting cold and the bowl of edamen wasn’t even touched at all by him. He was spacing out, with head looking out the café’s window, while watching at the white snow falling down as it covered the road than afternoon. On the ashtray, there were about two bended used cigarettes. The gloomy face young man was just about to waste another cigarette.
Kato Shigeaki was an honest guy that just found it really hard to survive with a very average payment for each of his articles. He had a really nice dream, publishing a book. Maybe a story of two young teenagers in love, or another potential epic movie story that he used to write when he was young and naive, thinking that it might be as good as Harry Potter or The Lord of The Rings.
“Still trying to find some inspiration, Shige?”
Shige. That was how the whole town called him. He was a nice guy, really. Too nice that sometimes he thought that he actually lived for others, and not even once he lived or worked hard for himself. Shige looked up and smiled as he saw the greeter.
“Maa~.. Not really, Masuda-san. I just feel like sitting here all day alone, reflecting what I did wrong that I ended up being such a not ambitious person,” he replied.
The guy named Masuda replied him with a bright wide smile. The red and white strip uniform he was wearing made his smile even brighter. If there was anyone else in the town that could beat how bright and warm Masuda’s smile was, Shige was pretty sure that this café would lose its customers because its best waiter’s smile wouldn’t be as attractive as before. Even worse, it was probably would be the sign of the end of the world.
“I told you to call me Massu, Shige. Stop calling me with such an honorific title. I’m just a year older than you,” said Masuda. Masuda just shook his head as he noticed the cold coffee and the untouched edamen. It wasn’t the first time the bubbly waiter found Shige’s order in such condition.
“Let me reheat your coffee,” Masuda took Shige’s coffee carefully.
“Thank you, Masuda-san. No, I mean Massu,” he smiled.
Masuda Takahisa, a college student and a part timer at the small café near where Shige worked. Masuda wasn’t really a smart person, but he worked hard to finish his college. It had been actually 5 years and Masuda was still trying his best to get enough credit to be able to graduate next year. Shige found it fascinating how Masuda always saw everything in such a positive point a view. He once told Shige that the world wouldn’t be a better place unless you started to think that it was.
“Here you go,” Masuda came back not long after Shige managed to waste his third cigarette as he didn’t even once tasted it. Again, Shige just smiled.
The bell that was attached on the café’s door rang when the door was being opened. A small guy with a sling bag on his shoulder entered the café, with his parka’s hook covering half of his face. He was wearing something normal, a t-shirt underneath the parka, dark navy jeans, and a pair of snickers. Even so, Shige found something in the guy’s appearance. Something that could only be described with his favourite word. Extravagance.
The guy pulled back his hook, revealing his face. He looked around in such a way that Shige was pretty sure could only be described with something that went along with his favourite word, although not in such a nice way. Arrogance. Yeah, such an extravagant and arrogant person that guy was, thought Shige.
Masuda smiled and greeted the man nicely, the one and only rule his manager ever told him, be nice to customers because they were always right. The guy didn’t really smile back at Masuda; he just stared at him for awhile before passing a piece of card to him. “I’m looking for that place. Can you show me where it is?” he said with a heavy accent.
Masuda read what was written on the card. He reread the card again a moment later, making sure that he read it correctly. Masuda turned his head to Shige as he held the card tight. “Shige, he’s looking for your newspaper office,” said Masuda.
“Eh?”
“This guy is working there, Sir. And the place is less than five minutes walking from here,” said Masuda to the guy. The guy then just looked at Shige.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Kato, Kato Shigeaki. How can I help you?” said Shige as he stood up and bowed his head.
The other guy bowed his head a little in reply. He observed Shige from head to toe. His face expression didn’t change at all; and he still didn’t smile. “Which section are you in?”
“Pordon?” asked Shige, in confused.
“He said you are working for that newspaper, so I’m asking you which section you are in,” replied the guy, still full of extravagance and arrogance.
“Columnist View, Sir. Why is that relevant?” asked Shige, trying to be polite this time.
“Good then. Show me the way to this place like right now. I’ll pay for your coffee,” said the guy as he took out his wallet and gave Masuda an amount of money that Shige was so sure was more that enough.
“Eh?” Shige stoned.
“What? Come on, move faster will you? I need to be there before your lunch break finish,” he complained.
He quickly turned away and made his way out of the café. Shige and Masuda exchanged looks in wonder. Shige then followed the guy as he decided that he couldn’t let just any stranger pay for his coffee. “Anou~, why do you have to be in my working place before the lunch break finish? And you didn’t have to pay for my coffee to make me show you the way,” said Shige as he found the guy waiting for him outside the café.
“Don’t be stupid. It was just so that I wouldn’t have to waste so much time inside. Now, show me the way,” he replied.
Being a nice young man he was, Shige quickly lead the way. The guy was shorter that him, but somehow Shige could feel that the steps that they took were just as big. Shige even realised that he tended to walk faster than Shige. “Hm, Sir, I don't mean to be rude but you still haven’t answered my question. Why do you have to go to my working place, Sir? And I’m confused why you asked which section I’m in,” said Shige.
He stopped walking. His face looked annoyed. “You surely ask a lot of questions, don’t you? Does everyone in this small town do that or it’s just you?” the tone he used wasn’t really nice.
“That wasn’t a very polite way to answer, Sir,” said Shige at the end. He never met anyone this arrogant before; and he wasn’t in such a good mood to be really nice at this stranger.
“Well, get use to it then. Because I’ll be your new section editor,” he replied as he frowned.
“Eh?”
“Gosh! Do I really have to go through the introduction process before I even reach the office? I’m Nishikido Ryo. A really unlucky son of your newspaper company’s owner that has to get his ass to this small town, leaving Osaka, the greatest place ever, to start his career from the bottom. Now, stop complaining and show me the way,”
And so he did.

How in the world can Ryo come across as so snarky and rude but at the same time flash those gorgeous, cheesy grins while he's cuddling on Pi's shoulder? (Okay, I'll admit it, I place RyoPi before NishiKato, but I still love NishiKato, especially since PiKame comes before Ryopi. Then they'd be paired off nicely, ne? ♥)
no subject
huaaa! u like ryopi?!?! i read fanfic about them sometimes, but fail to write one.. hahaha..
yay! u still love nishikato! *hugs rin*

1) THE OTP: PiKame
2) Ryopi
3) NishiKato
4) KoyaTego (hardly anyone agrees with me on this one, which is sad, b/c I think they're adorable - and here's one example of how PRECIOUS KoyaTego is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywjA8LfV5o0)
5) TaNaka
no subject
emm.. my otp list will go like this..
1. nishikato
2. tadaiki
3. hikakeito
4. tegoshige
5. kokame..
no subject
#3 - Same with those two, don't know them.
And I really... yeah, my #5 changes all the time on my whims. Junda one day, Kokame the next, Jinda the day after that... But my top 4 stay the same. ^_^
I really wish more people would do more Matsujun x Jin. I think that pairing would be awesome. Haha.
no subject
my no 3, 4, and 5 change occasionally.. but the first two remain the same usual...
